The Flybarless unit has been refining and testing with thousands of flights and dozens of top pilots. This year we introduce MAXX flybarless system at Thailand Heli Blowout 2019.

MAXX Flybarless System uses latest technology sensors with high sample, high resolution and low thermal offset drift. The flybarless unit is highly vibration resistant and extremely stable in flight for all helicopter sizes and flying styles.

Simplified Setup:


Easy setup with MAXX Software. Customers can use mLink port for connection to MAXX setup card and MAXX ecosystem in the future.

MAXX flybarless system brings a feeling of good flying with the default setup, reducing the first setup time. Especially the new tail control algorithm offers good tail control with default setup on all helicopter kits.

Ability to change tail gain on the transmitter (CH5) and on MAXX software.

Dual Satellite Port:


The MAXX flybarless has Dual Satellite Port provide greater reliability for large helicopters and long range flights, ability to BIND by MAXX software

Built-in Electric and Nitro Governor:


MAXX active throttle compensation is calculated according to cyclic, collective, tail, RPM and other inputs. It offers extreme stability, controlled RPM for both improved power and performance.

MAXX flybarless supports Nitro Governor, using magnetic RPM sensors connect to RPM in pin of unit. Minimum 7 channels on transmitter is required for Nitro Governor. The throttle channel is set up to V-shape for fast response. RPM is decided by CH7 (AUX2) channels on TX, max value 1920us for max Rpm setting and not decided by throttle channel
Electric Governor: Use RPM wire output of ESC or RPM sensor connect to RPM input pin. Minimum 6 channel transmitter is required for electric governor operation.

Event Logging and High sample rate Vibration logging:

The memory of unit stores data of 5 last flights.

Time of Radio signal, motor run/stop , BEC voltage drop.
Ability to review the vibration level when flying by graph form on the MAXX software

Auto Trim Piro:


No more manual adjustment for swash-plate. With MAXX flybarless, there is no need to spend a lot of time to balance the swash-plate. The software can detect unbalance of swash-plate in piro hover flight and auto trim the swash-plate.

Push button on the MAXX flybarless before flight

Take off and do a fast tail rate piro hover more than 10s. Land and push the button on the MAXX flybarless again; it will save the new swash trim value.

Rescue:


Rescue mode is activated when the helicopter tilt angle is over 25 degrees with ground and have event Gyro gain (CH5) value drops from high to below centre value (1520us). The helicopter will automatically flip back then automatically increase the height. Within 3 seconds the rescue mode will exit.

With advance accelerator sensors our MAXX flybarless system has the most accurate calculation for most accurate rescue. This saves a lot of crashes and a great tool for beginners to learn to fly.

Example: CH5 on Tx is 35% for flight, so you should be set CH5 on Tx is -35% (or 35% normal mode, not AVCS) for rescue mode , reaction of the tail will not change.

Drop Radio Signal Indicator:


The LED light on the MAXX unit will blink if detecting more than 50ms radio signal loss. This can be viewed in table Logger in the MAXX software.

BEC Drop Detector:


Nowadays, servos are very strong and only getting stronger, many crashes are due to weak BEC or bad connections. With MAXX flybarless, there is no more worries about this. Introducing an innovative feature: BEC Drop Detector that helps prevent many crashes. MAXX flybarless keeps reading voltage of BEC continuously before and during flight, if BEC is weak and voltage drops over 0.5V, the red LED on MAXX flybarless unit will double flashed to inform pilot the problem. The problems are also logged and viewed in table logger in MAXX software for reference.

MAXX GPS/GLONASS with Compass and Altitude Sensor System

Maxx GPS/GLONASS with Compass and Attitude Sensor system includes GPS/GLONASS module and 4 axis sensor (compass and altitude sensor). It is used to upgrade Maxx Pro, Maxx ASG flybarless to 10-axis Flight Controller, allows Maxx Flybarless to fly with GPS mode.

Update rate: up to 10 Hz with 2 concurrent GNSS (GPS and GLONASS).

New altitude sensor technology, high resolution, fly in high wind conditions more accurately, low error drift by temperature and long flight time.

Integrated on-board MCU to communicate with FBL unit using full-duplex communication, push-pull IO (not I2C) for low noise and more reliability.

A. Functions:

Automatically hold position according to GPS/GLONASS, keep altitude in center joystick.

GPS rescue: If your helicopter is reversed or tilted more than 15 degrees, it will automatically activate rescue, the helicopter will fly straight up, then automatically brakes and enters GPS flight mode when you switch to GPS flight mode by transmitter.

Return to Home: the helicopter automatically returns home when channel 5 (gear) is switched on transmitter, or radio signal is lost.

B. Installation steps:

Need to setup Maxx FBL to fly normally without GPS Add-on board. Then set channel 5 of Transmitter to negative value (less than center 1520us) in GPS flight mode, for example -40, tail gain will be like 40 but Maxx unit will activate rescue mode and GPS flight mode.

Note: Recommended to set low RPM in GPS flight mode to ensure less vibration at high frequencies.

Put the Maxx GPS system on the tail boom by foam tape, at least 10cm away from the tail servo/motor with micro size, and at least 20cm with 600/700 size

Connect the Maxx GPS system to the Maxx flybarless Unit via the Maxx Bus port of the Maxx Flybarless (program card port).

Compass Calibration (at the field):

Fast switching flight mode by your transmitter more than 3 times per second. The red LED on the Maxx FBL will flash quickly, indicating that the instrument is in compass calibration mode.

Rotation your helicopter more than 2 turns with the vertical axis perpendicular to the ground. The Red LED stops blinking indicating that the calibration is done.

C. Take off and fly with GPS flight mode:

Hold lock throttle by your transmitter switch, set the collective pitch joystick to the lowest level, turn on the helicopter power and wait for the red LED on the Flybarless to flash to indicating GPS/GLONASS signal is on.

Continue to wait until the red light turns off indicating that the GPS/GLONASS signal is enough to fly.

Unlock the throttle and move the pitch joystick up to the over center when you feel the RPM of main blades is enough to take off.

When the heli reaches the desired height, put the pitch joystick to the center, move the position of helicopter by cyclic joystick on your transmitter.

MAXX SmartGloo Glow Plug Igniter for MAXX Flybarless system

MAXX SmartGloo Ignitor is the most advanced, most smart and most safe glow igniter on the market.

MAXX SmartGloo is an Auto Switch Glow igniter for nitro engines.

  • - Automatically activated glow when it detects the machine starting, no needs to do anything on the transmitter, everything is completely automatic. No need external Glow plug starter. Just mount it on your helicopter and forget about it.
  • - Automatically turn off by 5 seconds timeout.
  • - Smart Safety feature: Prohibiting engine start when detecting high throttle. Only start the engine when the throttle is less than 25%.
